Adding something new might leave the impression that the site is under development. I don't think it is. A German opencaching node might be, as I see a trickle of German language posts now and then. Maybe someone can give us an English language summary of what's going on in Germany. _________________ Scout http://GPSgames.org

Hi Scout,

oh ... i think it is - realy!
see http://www.opencaching.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=241
... i'm already contiue'ing to write the code ... and posting/editing/removing caches and logs works ... HTML support is in development and so the search page and XML interface, too ...
I'm working (only) a few hours every week on the code! So it may take some weeks to get something to work, but i think my code goes the right way
Currently the staging server has some problems with the cvs update and so it isn't possible to view the newest changes online ... but in a month or two, i think the first release can be copied to www.opencaching.de and opencaching can go live! I want to invite you and all the other to help translating the contents to english (as far as the first version is stable - so we btw. i haven't to care on compatibility to a second template).
What makes it realy hard to develop is zero feedback in the forum. I think opencaching isn't death, but if we didn't get a first version running, it will die.
Best regards,
Oliver |

I am happy to hear that opencaching.de is still alive. Good luck to you.
I have not seen any evidence that opencaching.com is alive, other than this forum itself, and there are very few postings here.
Please look at http://geocaching.gpsgames.org for a working spec of what I personally would like to see in an opencaching node. _________________ Scout http://GPSgames.org

So any word on this as a cache listing service, yet? I'd like to place my first 2 caches, and even though they meet gc.com's standards I'd prefer listing with an open source.
I'm a LINUX USER so opensource has my first loyalty....You provide the service and I'll start listing... |

I am not sure where this project stands, seems to have stalled for some time now. Until then, Scout has mentioned his site and there is also www.navicache.com. |
