I don't know if it is a workable idea, but here is one that I have. Feel free to tear it apart, rework it, any thing that may make it workable.
1. Have a listing service here that is open source.
2. On doing a search have an option for the search engine to also search the other listing sites (GC, Nav, etc)
3. Have a script that when a cache is logged though this site to another site the log is copied to this site.
4. Have a script that allows you to list a new cache on another site, but also listed it to this site, it could also be used to update the listing.
5. On the member's profile add the stats banner from the other listing sites as a link to their profile on that site.

this is what we want to do ... maybe particular scripts aren't open source because of copyright or license (e.g. Maps), security-issues (core-node transaction protocols) ... but the main part and the important things will be open source and available to everybody who wants to help us ...

we dont want and can't do searches on gc (surely because of copyright and licence) ...
maybe navicache is interrested to be one of the opencaching-corenodes (in far future when oc works) - then the data of navicache would be included in our searches
But ... if somebody wants to program such a search engine, he can use the oc-caches and logs without (or nearly without - IANAL) any problems of copyright ...

see no. 2 ... we can't and don't want use gc or nc data without their permission

our primary goal is to get our system running ... when this is done we could talk about such ideas ...
